FUTURE MAKERS MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP

The re-invigorated workshop was back in 2019 with an expanded focus. Participants met with peers, facilitators and panelists in a dynamic workshop format which included discussions with leaders and change makers in our industry.

Applications were accepted from artists, artist managers and self-managed artists. The Seed provided and arranged transport, accommodation and meals for all successful applicants. Successful applicants only needed to get themselves to their closest major airport.

ALEX WILSON‘s main project is sleepmakeswaves who have received 3 ARIA nominations for their last 3 full length albums, have had extensive radio play and the opportunity to tour over 25 countries. Alex is also a music producer and audio engineer. Self Managed, NSW

AMBER FRESH (Rabbit Island) is a beloved artist in the Western Australian music scene and over the last ten years has released 2 exceptionally praised studio albums, and cult- loved home recordings. Amber writes, hikes, records, and her most recent album 'Deep in The Big' was Bandcamp's Album of the Day, with an AMRAP #1 spot for the title track. Self Managed, WA

ANT BEARD began writing songs at the age of 15 and began touring Western Australia with his band Carvana Sun 4 years later playing 4-5 shows a weekend. Carvana Sun began touring Europe the following year and have returned for the past 8 summers headlining festivals and performing to 5000+ crowds in Germany. Self Managed, NSW

ASHLYN KOH has managed FOAM for the last 6 years, in this time they have toured Australian 5 times, released 4 EPs and 1 album. Ashlyn recently joined FOAM as the 4th performing member on keys/synth and backing vocals. She also manages CALMLY, FKA and Childsaint and plays drums in CALMLY. Self Managed, WA

Perth singer-songwriter BRI CLARK surfaced in early 2015 on the waves of her debut single ‘Never Far Enough’. Receiving national airplay, the track was nominated for WAM Song of the Year for 2015/16. Bri was shortlisted for the 2018 Vanda and Young songwriting competition and has a 5-track EP due out in early 2019. Self Managed, WA

DAMIEN PLATT created Palms Management. Palms represent a diverse roster including Members Of Your Local Community, Rachel Maria Cox, Juno Disco and Tulliah. Damien was a representative on the board of The Push and Face the Music/ Changes Conference. Currently he also works at Vicious Recordings (Peking Duk, Avicii, Madison Avenue) where he oversees five independent dance labels as a Product and Marketing Manager. Manager, VIC

EMILY HOLLER manages Black Rabbit George and has an enviable career story that includes working as music business mentor, festival director, music supervisor, blogger, digital marketer, publicist, booking agent, international promoter and record label coordinator across Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast, London and Europe. HAILEY CRAMER has toured nationally and internationally with Blue King Brown, PEZ and 360. A guest performance on Rockwiz also saw her touring extensively around Australia with their live show. For the past year she has been collaborating with many different musicians and producers for her new project HAYCH which will be launched in 2019. Self Managed, VIC

HAYLEY AYRES began her career booking shows for mates which quickly escalated to being employed as a venue booker. Hayley is a touring musician who established 360 Artist Logistics offering events crewing services as well as artist management services. 360 management and bookings roster currently represents Melody Pool, Timothy Nelson, The Floors, Demon Days, Your Girl Pho, Jacob Diamond and Jamilla. JAKE MASON of Cookin’ On 3 Burners is a Melbourne based ARIA-nominated songwriter and producer with over twenty years experience. Jake has released fourteen albums, gained platinum sales and established his own label and production house Soul Messin’ Records. Jake co-wrote and co-produced ‘The Girl’ which became the most shazammed dance song of 2016 worldwide. Self Managed, VIC

JEREMY FURZE was previously head of Finance at Unified Music Group and started managing The Teskey Brothers in 2017. Jeremy is now a full time artist manager and has recently taken on the lease at The Bridge Hotel in his hometown of Castlemaine. Manager, VIC

JESSIE LLOYD is a composer, performer, creative entrepreneur and a cultural practitioner of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music dedicated to the continuation of song traditions through stories and song. Self Managed, VIC

JOEL BYRNE has spent the last 14 or so years touring nationally and internationally as a singer and guitarist in Adelaide rock band Wolf & Cub. Joel is currently the Industry Development Coordinator at Music SA and co-director of Sundial Productions. Sundial’s current roster includes Adelaide acts; Heaps Good Friends and engineer/producer Wade Keighran (Polish Club / Hockey Dad). Manager, SA

JACK CARTY is a songwriter who has been making, touring and releasing original music since 2010. In the last 8 years Jack has released five full-length studio albums; two EPs; received an APRA Professional Development Award and a #1 independent album. JOSH CUTLER performs with WAM- winning Dan Howls, programs live music at the four Clancy’s Fish Pub venues and in his spare time runs an artist services business, Catalyst Music. Josh manages two artists, Unearthed Falls Fest 2018 winner Elli Schoen and Dunsborough wunderkind Brayden Sibbald. Manager, WA.

JUSTIN LEWIS is one part of Melbourne folk duo, Jack The Fox. The pair grew up on the surf coast of South West Victoria and released their first single 'Brother' in late 2015, the song made its way to #1 on the Global Viral charts and has had almost had 4 million streams. With the success of 'Brother' the Melbourne based duo signed a worldwide publishing deal under Universal Music Publishing Group. Self Managed, VIC

KARL SMITH busked for 7 years in Brisbane before he hit the stage in The Lyrical. The Lyrical released an EP in 2010 and a full album independently in 2013 and Karl has been performing full time ever since. Self Managed, QLD

KIM WILLIAMSON has been working as an artist manager since 2016 and currently manages Monkey Marc. She started Melbourne Minute, a social media marketing business for independent artists in 2017, specialising in marketing, social media strategy, and working with artists to get the most out

LAUREN TARVER grew up in the punk scene, began performing solo in 2014 and under ‘El Tee’ in 2018. Tarver previously played in post-punk goth band, Gomme. After releasing her demo album, 'Rough Light', El Tee released her first 2-track EP titled 'Radio Silence', getting airplay on community radio throughout Australia. Self Managed, VIC

MOJO JUJU’s star is on the rise with the release of her third studio album, NATIVE TONGUE. Juju has taken her eclectic influences and created a seamless and authentically original sound, continuing her dedication to bucking labels, bending genres and doing her own thing. Self Managed, VIC

OLLIE ENGLISH is a 22 year old singer/ songwriter and multi instrumentalist from the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. Ollie released
2 singles in 2018 'How Many Times' and 'Holy Water', and has supported Robbie Williams, Jason Isbell, Lake Street Drive, Gretta Ray and more. Self Managed, SA

PAIGE TRANTHAM performs under the moniker Valentine Music and has teamed up with producer Joel Quartemain, Valentine has started producing the work that will define her. Though still early in her career, Valentine is already a five-time WAM nominee and Vanda & Young International Song Competition finalist. Self Managed, WA

RACHEL WHITFORD started managing Dear Seattle in 2014 and since 2017 has worked as a full time artist manager for
VVV Management / 123. Rachel’s previous experience includes working in tour operations for Chugg Entertainment and completing an internship with Destroy All Lines. Manager, VIC

RUBY-JEAN MCCABE is currently the primary booker for The Milk Factory in South Brisbane, manages Bugs and is the volunteer coordinator for Laneway Brisbane and an assistant agent for national artist booking agency New World Artists. Manager, QLD

SABRINA ROBERTSON works at Native Tongue Music Publishing as Creative Manager and runs music management and publicity company, Maths & Magic and manages Alexander Biggs. Manager, VIC

TOBY FINLAYSON is a hip hop artist, film maker and the Founder, Creative Director and CEO of Desert Pea Media as well as manager of B-Town Warriors. Toby has co-written, produced and released over 150 songs and music videos over 17 years with Indigenous young people and communities in regional and remote areas all around Australia. Manager, NSW

UDARAVI WIDANAPATHIRANA is an artist manager & founder at Mellum, where they represent Miss Blanks, HABITS, Mere Women, Rebel Yell and Jessica Says. Mellum’s work focuses upon image reconciliation; a term used to describe the fine line between visibility and tokenism for artists from marginalised groups. VIVAN VO aka Small FRY is an artist manager and music publicist. Managing a nest for Rainbow Chan, Yeo and Kult Kyss, she also provides publicity services to various local and independent artists. Vivan has a background in radio and has been a panel speaker at industry conferences. Manager, VIC

VYVIENNE ABLA has been working in the music and entertainment industry for 15 years. She started out running nightclubs and radio hosting, which later lead into festivals, events, artist management/development and music business. WILL WATSON started PS Music Group which was originally formed solely as a booking agency, the company is the home of bookings for Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Bustamento, Bobby Alu, Tijuana Cartel, Seaside and a host of other acts. WILL CUMING (LANKS) is an Australian songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. LANKS has supported the likes of Glass Animals, Toro Y Moi, RUFUS and Ry X, and has played at Groovin’ the Moo and The Plot festivals.
